If You’re a Writer or Artist This Has Special Relevance to You

Look around.

Everything you see is the result of those who have finished things…

The books in your bookcase.

The computer you work on.

The TV you watch.

The hammer you use (once in a while).

The bed you sleep in.

Everything that we use as human beings is the result of those who have followed through and finished the job.

Everything we have is the result of someone (including ourselves) taking an idea and turning it into reality through a process we call production.

Fundamentally, it’s the result of the seemingly simple but difficult job of finishing things.

I learned this years ago when I asked myself why I wasn’t achieving what I had set out to do.

I looked back on the successes I had achieved.

My successes only came from things I had finished.

My “failures” were those things I hadn’t finished.

Doesn’t mean that anything you finish will suceed.

What it does mean is that anything you finish has the potential to succeed.

And anything that you don’t finish cannot succeed.

It’s as simple as that.

You need to finish things to have a chance for success.

There is power in finishing things, bringing them to completion.

The power is that you have brought something new into existence.

It may succeed or fail in the marketplace, but it will exist.

You’ll know that you finished what you set out to do.

You will have the pride of coming in over the finish line…

Be it in first place or last.

You will have finished.

Your life deserves nothing less.

Finish things.

Final thought…

If you’re a writer, do yourself a favor — finish that article, that poem, that essay, or whatever you’re working on.
