Weak or Strong, it Must Be Fed
Why do writer’s write?… To say something to themselves and to the rest of the world.
The very act of writing is an ego expressing itself, feeling important enough to write down thoughts instead of simply thinking them.
Saying, in effect, “My thoughts are important enough to formally write down.
A writer needs a certain kind of ego.
It doesn’t have to be strong.
It doesn’t even have to be healthy.
But it needs to desire self-expression for whatever reason.
It does help to have a strong, healthy ego if one wants to risk making one’s writing available to the wider world, but it is still not essential.
What is crucial is that the writer gives in to his or her desire to write — and write!
If one has a weak ego, it may take some trickery or permission to be imperfect in order to get those words down.
A writer must write… or die a slow death of ego starvation.
Writing is the way a writer breathes life into his or her soul.
No other way will do.
So you must do it no matter how imperfect it comes out.
Do it!
